By sharing many components with the Honda Odyssey and Honda Pilot, the BF175 gains years of proven Honda engineering, precision manufacturing and reliability.
The BF175 features a Large Displacement Engine with a powerful, compact 24-valve SOHC design. Lacking the bulk and weight of long intake runners and multi-camshafts, the narrow V6 design offers top performance and durability, based on Honda's automotive engineering excellence.
The High Performance Gearcase is designed to get you going faster, all the while reducing hull porpoising and minimising spray, thus increasing acceleration and top speed.
NOW WITH DRIVE BY WIRE
All four of Honda’s flagship V6 engines now feature multiple rigging options for a customized on-the-water experience; choices include both electronic Intelligent Shift and Throttle (iST®) which is more commonly known as Drive By Wire (DBW) and mechanical control options; newly designed user interfaces; and multi-function colour display.
The Drive By Wire engine control units offer binnacle-mounted throttle controls for as many as four engines, or side-flush mount for single engines. The mechanical control supports up to two engines and a single-helm location as well as a side-mount control box. The design of the components compliments their operation; the DBW throttle controls are sleek and modern, while the mechanical controls are tough and rugged.
GREATNESS COMES IN 2'S
The BF175 features Dual Stage Induction. The result is a simple, compact design that improves overall operation.
The competition’s exhaust track goes through the middle of the oil pan, pre-heating the oil. Honda’s dual exhaust headers wrap around the outside of the oil pan, which not only reduces heat build-up, but also increases engine efficiency and performance.
And the BF175 features a unique 2-Pass Cooling System, which maintains an even temperature on all cylinders. This results in increased cooling efficiency and long-term durability.
MULTI-PORT PROGRAMMED FUEL INJECTION
The BF175 delivers the precise amount of fuel/air to each cylinder. Resulting in easy starts and instant throttle response with superior fuel efficiency.
Along with Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection, the BF175 incorporates Lean Burn Control technology, which allows combustion to operate on a leaner air/fuel ratio than stoichiometric air/fuel.
An O2 sensor, together with the ECM, precisely controls the air/fuel mixture for the best fuel economy at cruise setting. The mode in which lean burn control is used during cruising to achieve higher fuel economy is referred to as ECOmo (Economy Controlled Motor).
A FEW OTHER FEATURES
The Single Latch Cowl has four securing points to ensure a water-tight seal, along with a convenient front-mounted single latch.
The starter motor is inverted into a sealed chamber that protects the starter bendix drive from the elements.
And with Honda’s Engine Alert System, the BF175's ECM monitors vital engine functions and prevents engine damage by alerting the operator of overheating, low oil PSI, over-rev, water in fuel, battery condition, and critical engine functions.
ENGINE COMMAND SYSTEM
The ECM receives constant input from 18 different sensors to deliver instant starts, smooth operation, strong performance and excellent fuel efficiency.
BLAST
A quick movement of the throttle control activates the BLAST™ system, advancing the ignition curve aggressively. 'Hole shot' is vastly improved as more horsepower gets the hull up on plane quicker.
DUAL STAGE APPLICATIONS
Easy for re-powers. 26" centre-to-centres. Many competitors have to mount on 28" centre. Ensures maximum performance and manoeuvrability.
60AMP BATTERY CHARGING POWER
Honda introduces a proven 'on demand' 90amp belt-driven alternator that reduces heat build-up and provides superior battery charging capability.
POSITIVE LUBRICAITON
A crankshaft-driven, automotive-style trichoid oil pump ensures the longterm durability of critical engine components.
CORROSION PROTECTION SYSTEM
A patented, 'double sealed' multi-layered paint process. Sacrificial anodes and stainless steel technology, along with waterproof connectors, all enhance corrosion protection.
FRESH WATER FLUSHPORT
